📍 Launch Details
✅ Launched by Union Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in Raisen, Madhya Pradesh.
✅ Full Form: National Geospatial Knowledge-based Land Survey of Urban Habitations.
✅ Part of the Digital India Land Records Modernisation Programme (DILRMP).
📍 Purpose & Scope
✅ Aims to create a comprehensive geospatial database for urban land records using GIS technology.
✅ Enhances urban governance, property ownership records, and urban planning.
✅ Pilot project launched in 152 urban local bodies across 26 states, covering 4,142.63 sq. km.
📍 Need for the Initiative
✅ Addresses outdated/unstructured land records affecting governance & taxation.
✅ Seeks to digitize urban land records, improve property tax collection, reduce disputes, and streamline urban planning.
📍 Survey Process
✅ Uses drones, aerial photography, and high-resolution cameras.
✅ Conducted in three stages:
1️⃣ Area selection & drone survey planning.
2️⃣ Field survey to verify property tax, ownership & registration.
3️⃣ Publication of final land ownership records after claims resolution.
📍 Cost & Funding
✅ Centrally funded with a pilot cost of ₹194 crore.
✅ Unit costs:
₹25,000–₹30,000 per sq. km for simple cameras.
Up to ₹60,000 per sq. km for advanced 3D cameras.
