`BRIGHT FUTURE FOR JEREMANI SAYS MUKAMBA`
FORMER Dynamos and Zimbabwe midfielder Denver Mukamba has likened the team’s teenage sensation, Francis Jerimani, to Ronald Chitiyo.
Mukamba is currently unattached, having parted ways with Scottland after his contract expired.
Interestingly, the house where Mukamba grew up in the Lusaka section of Harare’s high-density suburb, Highfield, is adjacent to Jerimani’s home, just 50 metres apart.
Mukamba has witnessed Jerimani’s transition from boy to Dynamos player.
Jerimani impressed many when Dynamos coach Lloyd Chigowe introduced the 19-year-old in the later stages of their Castle Challenge Cup clash against Simba Bhora at Rufaro on Saturday.
The gamble paid off, as Jerimani and Enersio Perezo Jr. made a lasting impact, helping DeMbare turn the game over.
Dynamos went on to win the encounter on penalties after the match finished 1-1 in regulation time.
Jerimani proved to be a nightmare for Simba Bhora skipper Blessing Moyo, who struggled to contain after the youthful winger had been sent.
Although he was at Dynamos last season, Jerimani had limited game time, even struggling to make the matchday squad for most of the campaign.
But he is looking to make the most of the 2025 season at a DeMbare outfit deserted by no less than seven key players.
Mukamba is not surprised by the praise Jerimani is receiving, saying Dynamos fans should expect more.
“I have known Jerimani for a long time; he is from Highfield and lives just a few metres away from the house where I was raised,” Mukamba said.
“He is very quick and comfortable with the ball. I’m not surprised by what people are saying about him, as I know he is a talented young man who just needs a chance to showcase his skills.
“He reminds me of Chitiyo (Ronald).
“Chitiyo was unstoppable, and Jerimani has the potential to be twice as good as him because he is at the right club at the right age,” Mukamba added.
Mukamba has been training on his own during the pre-season and has not ruled out the possibility of returning to Dynamos. He is likely to start training with DeMbare today when they regroup to prepare for the league opening assignment against ZPC Kariba at Rufaro on Sunday. However, his fate will be decided by Chigowe, who has hinted at his desire to add a few veterans to his youthful squad.
Dynamos have also welcomed back the pair of former captain Patson Jaure and midfielder Devon Chafa, who have been training with the Harare giants.
Mukamba is also linked with a reunion with coach Rodwell Dhlakama, who is in charge of Hwange in the ZIFA Southern Region Division One Soccer League.
Yadah Stars will also be another option for Mukamba, who was close to joining the Miracle Boys after the club owner, Prophet Walter Magaya, had opened the doors for him before he opted for Scottland.
