🚨Over 28 Lakh Companies Registered in India, But Only 65% Are Active So far, more than 28 lakh companies have been registered in India, but only 65% (about 18.1 lakh) are currently active. According to the latest data from the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA), only 5,216 of these companies are foreign, and among them, 63% (3,281) are active as of January 2025. ➤ As per the Ministry’s monthly report: • By January 31, 2025, a total of 28,05,354 companies were registered. • 18,17,222 companies are active. • Compared to December 2024, the number of active companies has increased by 0.14%. • 9,49,934 companies have been shut down so far. • In January 2025, 16,781 new companies were registered, with a total paid-up capital of ₹816.14 crore. ➤ Which Sectors Have the Most Active Companies? • Business services lead with 27% of active companies. • Manufacturing comes next with 20%. • Trading and social services together make up 13%. ➤ Which States Have the Most Active Companies? • Maharashtra has the highest number of active companies. • Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal follow next in the list.
