*CHAPTER 4*
*TERRENCE*
It was around clocking out time when l was called up by the hotel manager. Well trust me for someone who hadn't even made it to a week that was quite a number of times l had already been to offices.
"Unofara here chikomana?"
"Good afternoon sir?"
"I'm okay. Ndini ndakudeedza",
"Owe?" I said nervously. Of course l didn't know what to say.
"Ease up its nothing serious. That other time when l sent you up to this office to pick up my keys right?"
"Yeah makeys."
"Yeah, makeys iyayo anga ari pamusoro peka envelope kanga kaine about 40 something dollars. Nemadocuments ekuclinic arimo.." he said.
"Owe, well l didn't really have time to check ndakangotora makeys ndikabuda", l said cause from the looks of it, the conversation was almost suggesting something else. "Asi muri kuishaya and was wondering if l took it?"
Ndakabva ndangoita spare him the trouble.
"I wouldn't say it like that. I'm just trying to establish what really happened. I might just have left it in the car or at home. Don't worry about it I'm sure I'll find it somewhere around here."
"I promise you l didn't take anything except keys from this office that day. So if it was here l would be more than glad to help you look for it while_"
"Owe, no no son. Its okay. Like l said don't worry this wasn't an accusation. Take it as a friendly ask. Okay? And if you really didn't have anything to do with its disappearance then it's in here. You are the only one l gave my keycard to this week. You can go."
Ndakazobuda hangu asi obviously ndandakusato feeler okay. I hadn't even had time to snoop around that office, let alone open some envelope in that short period of time.
Anyways l headed home after work hours. Kinda crazy how much work activities could make me forget about my girlfriend drama for a minute. I mean it was until l was walking home that l remembered it all. Checking my phone there were 16 missed calls from Fadzi. I didn't want to talk to her cause like always, l knew she had an explanation from everything. She wasn't a quitter either.
Almost had forgotten kuti when l was excited about getting the new place l once sent her a location and she saved it. Who knew. I found out the surprising way. Ndakasvikirana kumba naRyan apa ndanga ndisati ndatombo muudza nyaya yacho. Ndaitonyara kana kuitanga nyaya yacho. He always had his issues with Fadzie and Guess who was always bragging naFadzi wacho. Heartbreak hamuinzwisise henyu. Tichisvika pamba dhumha dhumha naFadzi akamira kufront door kuya. Like my first wonder was how she got there zve location ndanga ndato kanganwa ini. Apa Ryan nekusaziva zvikuitika ndokubva atotanga.
"Aah gulez madii madii?"
"What are you doing here and how did you get here?" I asked too instantly zvekuti Ryan akatoshayawo kuti chii chaiitika cause akabva acheuka achindi tarisa.
"Hi Ryan", Fadzi said, turned to face me and showed me her screen, "you sent me that location remember."
"That doesn't answer why you are here in the first place though does it?" I continued.
"Trouble in paradise", Ryan akazongodaro ndokupinda mumba ini ndokusara panze paye.
"Can we talk Terry l know you are angry with me."
"Angry? Do you even know how l feel right now?"
"I know, I know."
"Do you? I trusted you Fadzi. That's worth nothing to you?"
"Of course l get you Terry. Can we at least get inside and talk?"
"I think panapa will do. I'm too tired for all this. What's there to talk about, l loved you and you loved me along with many more..."
"Terry l didn't sleep with him l swear. Please let me explain. He's been my friend for a long time and l didn't even know he had feeling for me like that. Until last night",
"Wakutondiita mwana hant?"
"No I'm not. Please listen to me. He came over, we talked a little and before we knew it, it was dark and he ended up just sleeping over."
"A guy, sleeping over, cause it's late? On your bed? And you tell me nothing happened? Usandi jairire iwewe chienda paden", ndakadaro ndaakubva paye cause the more she explained was the more l felt stupid and l definitely wasn't enjoying the feel.
I walked in and she stubbornly followed me inside. Uyuwo Ryan ndofunga akati pamwe mukomana akuda kuvharira ndokubva ashaika.
"I'm sorry Terry. I admit it was stupid. One thing might have led to the other and we kissed but he jus took advantage of me Terry. As soon as l got back to my senses takazongo rara but nothing else happened l swear", she kept explaining but from the way l felt it was kinda too late for explanations.
And from what l knew already, l didn't need more information to establish what l didn't like. It already sounded bad enough.
"You know what, either something happened or didn't happen, l know enough. You and me are done Fadzie. I can't be with you if you don't respect me enough to take care of what you claim to be mine."
"I didn't expect anything less honestly. I understand", she said and apparently she didn't argue.
Well maybe she must have realised kuti it wasn't gonna do anything cause ndanga ndato decider. I couldn't be in a relationship with her. I left her, went to bed and she took her purse and left. I assumed she was leaving. She wasn't. She came back, brought some supplies and started cooking. Like tf. Tried to stop her. She insisted it was just a make over before she leaves. I told myself the sooner she finishes cooking the sooner she leaves the sooner l ate. Yap, apparently l was starving and she wasn't so bad at this cooking thingy. By the time Ryan came back, food was ready. We ate in a room filled with so much tension. She didn't want to eat and l made her. Haubike zve wabva kurambwa woti wakaguta koukatiroya.
By the time all this was done, it was around 8,9pm. Boom she starts saying hee ndikutya l can go tomorrow. It was kinda late yeah l agreed but it started feeling like a set up. Like she had planned it from the start. Even Ryan was insisting that she slept over ozongoenda. When he finally went to his room takasara tatarisana with a decision to be made.
If you asked me then l would simply say heee it was dark hee l couldn't let her go ega bla bla. But now I'm realising kuti musi iwowo ndandatongo batwawo nemweya wakashata. I felt like pay back and it felt like zvauya zvega ndorwei, and it felt like hitting it was the closest revenge l had on the table. Unenge uchizviudza kuti its just break up sex hee wat wat. It was but l blame her. She knew my weaknesses and she used them against me. Apa ndanga ndadyiwa makuseni so the hairstyle had been renewed and dresscode, everything was a thirst trap.
Well it worked. We got to bed, hit it the entire night like there was literally N0 rest for the wicked.
Next day we split ways mutown, not much on constructive conversations but guess somebody had had their heartbreak nursed a lil bit. However before splitting mutown l had to make sure she understood what had happened.
"Hey Fadzi. About last night_"
"No l get it. It was just sex l understand. I had a great time", she finished up and l no longer had to spell it out.
"Be safe", l said, we hugged and went our separate ways.
I would say the next morning was way better than the previous one. There was a lot going on but what they say about sex before work, that works.
I walked in feeling and looking sharp, went for morning meeting where we would be given tasks and there l met Mr Tichaona as expected. He was still giving me weird starres but at least he wasn't trying to harass me. After the meeting l bumped into the manager.
"Morning sir?"
"Morning how are you?"
"I'm okay, did you find those things you were looking for?"
"Unfortunately l didn't and I'm worried. I'm gonna have to make it a police case. Anyways have a good day", he said, and proceeded to his office.
He left me with my heart up my throat. This had gone ugly too quick. Apa ndifunge kuti ikaita police case first suspect was definitely me. Ndaka tonhora apa now l couldn't figure out what was happening. Ndakazosara kuenda kunoshanda ndaakutryer kujoinidza what had prolly happened.
There were only 2 answers. Either the man was just tripping, or someone had actually stolen then the money not knowing that the envelope had important documents too. But then the third possibility hit me later when l was on my way to lunch. I met Mrs Moyo and Tich arguing in the hallways and when then saw me approaching then quieted down.
"Afternoon maam, after sir", l said as l passed through.
Then l realised they were the only 2 people on that institute who would want me gone; for obvious reasons. I wasn't sure on the how part But it was the only thing that made sense panguva yacho. Since mr Nhau had said l was the only one who had been given his card that week it didn't make sense.
I had to find answers otherwise ndaigona kungopedzisira ndave ne criminal record rezvandisina kupara. I headed back kwavaiitira nharo kwakuvashaya. Mr Tichaona was usually a lil hard to find during lunch hour but Mrs Moyo always had her lunch in her office.
Ndakanangako, knocked and she let me in.
"Its becoming a habbit of us meeting everyday in this office", she began as she wiped her mouth and carried on with her chicken and salad dish which was clattering the table.
"I'm sorry I'm just looking for answers. I will be gone in a second."
"Take a seat", she said, "care to join?"
"No I'm fine thank you", l said, sitting down.
"What is it that you want that your supervisor couldn't help with you with?" She began.
"Mr Nhau has been on my back ever since yesterday. Something got stolen from his office and he thinks its me."
"Did you take it?"
"Of course l didn't take it. Clearly someone else did but if he makes it a police case like he plans to, I'm in trouble."
"If l may ask, maybe I'm missing something. How does that concern me, l mean how do l come in?"
"I don't know, you are the only people who would want me out of this place."
"So you think we took it to frame you, get you fired? All that effort for what? Get over yourself kid."
"I don't know. Can you find out if Mr Tichaona knows somet_"
"Thats not my problem now is it? Go ask him yourself Terry. I'm not your baby sitter around here. Close the door on your way out", she said and got back to her food.
"Okay thank you maam", i said, stood up and walked. "Owe, and just know if it gets to me being asked what happened that day or the reason why it wasn't me who brought back the keycard to him, I'm not sparing any detail. I'm telling them everything."
I said and as l walked out she called me, "Terrence, wait", she said, stood up and came to the door, closed it.
"Yes maam?" I asked.
"Uyu mwana uyu. Unoshura here iwe?" She said and started pacing up and down the room vakabata kumeso like she was trying to think.
"What did l do? From the looks of it I'm already certain both or one of you had something to do with it. Coming clean paine time is the only way I'm going to come out of this."
"Listen, l swear I'm one of the few people who would want you gone, I'm not going to go around that one. But l swear l had nothing to do with that set up. I'm not as evil as you think. Take away your future and career for what? Erasing evidence?" She said.
"I don't know", l said ndakatarisa pasi. Of course l wasn't convinced.
She came closer, "look at me Terrence."
I did and she carried on, "I swear it wasn't me, nor do l know who did. Trust me l actually am a mother too l wouldn't do that okay?" She said ndichiti ndikada kutarisa kuside to avoid eye contact she holds my face to look at her until l nodded. "I'll ask Mr Tichaona. I promise."
"Okay. Thank you l appreciate", l said.
"Whatever you do, no matter what you are asked, never mention that incident please. I made a mistake and exposing it puts a lot of my life at risk. Okay?" She emphasised starring right into my eyes apa she had that thing of not understanding personal space.
She be all over you trying to make a point, as if she didn't understand she was a walking temptation. I didn't reply l was too busy starring at her explain so desperately.
"Wanzwa here Terry?"
"I understand l won't say anything."
"Thank you so much I'll handle it. I'll talk to Mr Nhau too", she said and hugged me.
Like bruh as if her being so close wasn't enough. I mean l was literally between her and the door closed behind me. I couldn't even hug back like where would l put my hands. She was a bit shorter even in heels.
Well I'm not sure what got me excited but soon after the hug she laughed ndikatovapa a confused face cause l didn't get it.
"Don't worry it's natural", she said.
I didn't understand too until l looked down then boom my trouser was awkwardly pointing at her over the crotch. Like l didn't even see where that hard on came from. I was so ambarrased that l put my hand in my pocket zve pafake trying to cover up but well it was too late.
"Its not what you think?"
"Okay okay, l won't say anything", she said smiling almost smiling vachidzokera kudesk ravo.
Watching her walk away actually made it worse. I had to put both hands in my pockets.
I'm pretty sure it was the salt yandakadya previous night mumuriwo waFadzi.
*CHAPTER 5*
_the gap_
*NARRATION*
"Why are you smiling?" Tichman asked as he entered mu office mamuna Mrs Moyo soon after Terrence had left.
"Nothing, pinda uko. Ndakudeedza, its about Terrence."
"Speaking about the kid, l have noticed kuti akunyanya kuwandira kuno mazuvano. Should l be worried?"
"Worried about what wave murume wangu here? Gara pasi uko", Mrs Moyo replied as he took a seat and then proceeded, "Why are you being like this? I mean ever since the kid came you..."
"Tich we had sex once and it didn't even last 2 minutes. Don't make it look like we had an affair or something..."
"Before the sex there was chemistry. That doesn't count? We had something and we still_"
He couldn't finish the sentence Terrence akabva asvika padoor, "Sorry l forgot ma keys e store room somewhere on your desk."
She smiled, "Aya, pinda utore",
Terrence walked in avoiding eye contact almost like the more she smiled he started remembering the incident. She even made it worse,
*TERRENCE.*
Coming back there anytime soon hadn't been on the plans that day. Ndaiti ndikangozvifunga ndoona ndakuda kuseka ndega zvekuti even Angy akatombo vhunza and l didn't even know what to answer. It was awkward. Pakadaro then l realise kuti ndabuda ndichitiza zvekukanganwa makey apa aidiwa. The plan was to just enter ne serious face ndobuda. Apparently she hadn't let it go kungonditi baa it was almost like she couldn't avoid kuda kuseka.
"Wazopora here Terrence", she added.
I couldn't even reply ndakazongoti zvakaoma ndakuda kutoseka apa Tichman aiti akanditarisa, otarisa Mrs Moyo, onditarisa futi and he wasn't understanding anything.
"Anga achirwara? You didn't mention anything about being sick are you lying around Terrence? Ini saSupervisor nditodzifambira", there was Tichman making a foul out of himself.
"Vana Tichman inyaya dzedu kani chii. Enda hako iwe Terry", she answered and l left
*NARRATION*
Terrence left and Mrs Moyo starred with a half smile as he walked out kusvika avhara door and then when she turned back to look at Mr Tichaona, he was starring at her raising an eyebrow.
"What?" She asked with a frown.
"You falling for the kid aren't you?"
"What? Hezvo unopenga here? Handichato tambe nema workers uripo cause you will think I'm trying to sleep with them?"
"Are you sure it's just kutamba?" He asked again ndokunyatso tarisa Mrs Moyo.
"Whatever you are thinking, stop don't be stupid. He's the same age as my daughter kuti ndashayei?"
"I see the way you look at him. Ever since he walked in you been smiling?"
"He's a funny kid Tichaona. And I'm responding the same way l would with any other worker around here. Are you crazy What do you see me for?"
"Okay okay sorry. My bad."
"You should be. What's with you and that kid nhai murume mukuru. That brings me to my story. Did you frame him kuti adzingwe?"
"What are you talking about?"
"Don't play dumb with me? Did you take stuff from Mr Nhau's office? Don't lie to me. Mr Nhau is missing some things from his office and he thinks it's Terry."
"Why are you worried? Shouldn't you be happy kuti the kid might just be leaving and it won't be cause of you. Siya zviitike zvega zve."
"What are you talking about are you normal?"
"Yes I'm normal, I'm looking out for you and you are worrying about the kid?" He asked almost frustrated.
"What your tone with me. Did you or did you not? You are the only other person who handled that card."
"No l didn't. I just gave Mr Nhau the card and the keys right away."
"Then find out who did. I want the answers by tomorrow morning."
"Wait you_"
"You are dismissed Mr Tichaona."
With a frustrated face he left the office.
*TERRENCE.*
The devil usually likes to use those gaps individuals create within themselves. Theen he squeezes in. Before you know it, it's the three of you in the room. You will understand soon.
Day rakapera haro ndokuenda kumba. Kohanty chimoko ndandisisina hangu? Singwengwe apa vamwe nekudzikama kunobva kwapera tikangoita single. Kusvika kumba l changed into simple casual wear, took ka gas tank ndokubva ndabuda kunofillisa hangu. Ryan anga asati adzoka meno round raanga apinda hake. Kaghetto aka ndandisati ndambonyatsoka famba ever since l came. So kwekutoisa gas kwacho l wasn't even sure. Sezvineiwo ndakabva ndaona kamwe kachick kaitoenda kugas netank ndikati rega nditevere. Takatozosvika taakutoseka chii chii. She was kinda pretty. Not zviye zvenyu zvekuchembera wakanaka sanaMrs Moyo but she was thick enough and fair looking zvekuti ndanga ndakuto batanidza zvima bars chii chii. Even iye ndakatoona kuti mwana aakudyira chii chii zvekuti ndakatoronga kuti by the time yatinozo dzoka haa munhu ndenda konhesa. Paya. I think kainzi Melisa if not mistaken.
Tichisvika kugas kuya you know service station yagara inenge iri busy plus gas vanhu vanenge vakango zara zara. Especially kana zesa ratobva haro kubaya.
Tisu avo paline paya nyaya dzikutsva apa mabars ndainyatsozvi feeler kuti nchiri nawo. It was talking until it was flirting. Paline regas ipapo. Hameno chakazongoita kuti atarisa kumashure kwangu ndokubva aita kunge avhunduka so ini eeh.
"Whats wrong?"
"My boyfriend", she said almost in a whisper and l was like "huh?"
"My God, andiona mhaihwe zvangu. Tiza."
You know that moment when everything happens so fast and it like ukurota. I gave another ,"huh, what do you mean?"
Ndandiri confused and this time she was a bit louder, "ndati tiza Terry. Mukomana wangu ationa."
Ndakato cheukawo paye wanike rino ziswinya ririkusvika kana kutiza kwacho ndakabva ndatopera simba ini. He was hella hefty kunge aifamba ne gym. Ziku vest nezikucargo short raiita kunge rinogona kungokwana ka 14" kegotsi mupocket. Ndaitiza ndichiendepi iro ranga ratosvika.
"Thats your boyfriend?" Ndakazevezera asi simba mumakumbo haaa zvanga zvatoendwa.
Semunhu wemurume hauzorege kuzvisimbisa. Especially pamberi pebaby.
Besides, ndandapara yei hangu hanty tanga tango taura nyaya n stuff l mean, why did l need to run. Harina kutora nguva ndobva rasvika haro. Rudo ibofu henyu mufunge. Even the guy's face was a weapon fashioned against me.
"Aaah, SPENSER, ukutsvagei kuno?" That was Melisa who stammered ndobva raignowa ndokubva ndapihwa ziso.
"Ndiani uyu?" He asked.
The chick was somehow so terrified of the guy that she was struggling to calm down apa vanhu vanga vatotanga kuyeva. She hesitated for only about 3 seconds ndokubva agarwa neimwe mbama yakadhonza maziso emunhu wese aivepo ini ndokubva ndaisa zvi step zviviri back just in case. "Ndooku town kwawati waenda here uku?"
Ndakazongoti, "Aah madii mukuru?" Ndichiti nditsanangurewo zvaitika ndokufumhiwa neyangu zvekuti masteps aye andakarova akashanda. Now it became a scene.
"Mupfanha dzoka apa. Kasika", he demanded.
Kupi. Ndizunguzwe mujuru?
"Wangu. Ita mushe hausvike uchingorova munhu usina kunzwa nyaya zve", ndini uyo ndichideedzera apa kastep ndichidzoka reverse slow slow whenever he approached, neka gas tank muruoko.
"Urikuti ndakapusa here. I have been watching you for a long time kubvira muchifamba. Urikundiita mwana?"
"Haa wangu. Taakuto rambidzwa kufamba nevana venyu here? Apa baby wariroverei? Kufamba nemunhu?"
"Iwe, ndati dzoka apa utaure nyaya yako. Kufamba muchibatana? Dzoka apa."
Uyuwo Melisa kuda kuuya kuti atsanangure ndokubva apihwa imwe zve vanhu ndokuzoita wekubata vaakupopota. Ini ndikati chance ndokuuya from behind ndiye chifight kumusana.
I doubt he even felt that.
Akango cheuka neface inehasha and he was like, "you are dead young man", apa panguva yandiri kuti ndichitiza bhurugwa ndiye dzvi. Pane imwe grip yekuti wega unonyatso feeler kuti haa zvaendwa. But kuti upere manje ivo vanhu vakatarisa zvozoda here. Mwari ndokuti Mozisi muruoko unei, mozisi ndokuti ndine gas tank, zvikanzi shandisa.
Kohanty rinenge riri empty haro. Kuti ndirivheyese ndidhonore dzoro ruoko ndokubva rwabatwa ndikati alternatively rega ndi banhe gumbo netank. Paya tank mugumbo mukomana achi yuwira ndokubva Mozisi aisa tank mune rimwe gumbo paya zvine simba and it was during that milli second that l escaped the grip mukomana nehasha ndokuti tsoma neni ini ndikati unonyepa. Dzvinyangu rikati neni chiso chiine humhondi.
There was this FORDRANGER open truck car which was already leaving from the service station ndokubva ndangono jambira kumashure kuya meno zvandaifungawo. Sezvineiwo l think driver anga ato reader sichaz yaiwuya ndokubva atsika mota tikazopotswa nemadhinha maviri matatu as the stranger's get away car fled the scene.
The car drove away ndokuzonomira after about an entire kilometer. Neka gas tank kangu ndakaburuka ndokufamba ndichienda kumberi kuya kuti ndinotenda anga andi ponesa uyu.
"That was very reckless. What if he had hit the car nematombo?"
Then l realised the get away driver was a chick. Like a chick and prolly the closest thing to Mrs Moyo l had seen so far.
"Owe hey, I'm Terry", l said paya voice rikapotsa raramba kubuda.
"Don't hey me. Why do you start fights if you are gonna run away from them?" She continued.
She looked mad. But well, saved my ass.
"I'm not sure if you witnessed the whole thing but he_"
"You were with his girlfriend mister", she quickly intercepted my sentence.
"Owe, l think you witnessed the whole thing. By the way, I'm actually surprised it's you who was behind the steering. Not so bad for your age."
"A thank you would be enough next time", she said and drove off instantly leaving me mudust paya.
You know these spoiled rich kids. Kungo kwereteswawo mota one day akuto ganzira munhu wese. Ndakasara paye.
Distance yekumba to gas plus rimwe kilometer ratanga tatiza nambuya vekundipa attitude ava. And l still needed gas so l had to find another spot.
Ndakazo svika kumba haa kwatove kuma to 7 manheru chaiko ndaakuto tsanangurira Ryan masinhi anga aitika kugas nasis Melisa vanga vapotsa vandiurayisa.
If l was to be fair, it wasn't all her fault. She just had a very abusive cutthroat as a boyfriend and she really needed prayers. I always had a thing for abusive guys.
Ndichisvika semazuva ese ndokusangana nemota iya yemurume waMrs Moyo ichitova dropper. But from the looks of it they weren't cool. She walked out of the car with a very furious look. The husband got off and tried to stop her by holding her hand and she shook it off and walked into the building. He turned to look at me paya and to ease the awkwardness ndakazongoti mamuka sei?
"Hapana hapana tangomukira iwo madrama iyaya. Women", he said ndokuridza tsamwa, "l made a mistake and she is not giving me a chance to explain."
There he was spilling his business like l had asked. But besides that, l got really curious. Too bad l couldn't ask so l delayed long enough to hear the full story. He carried on.
"Nyaya dzema girlfriends idzi. Unongozivawo murume wese hapana anozoshaya kepaside chii chii hapana. Urimurume iwewe you understand what l mean. Meno chaanga achazo batirawo fon yangu", he said ndokudzungudza musoro. "Sorry ndakutoku nonotsa. I don't even know why I'm telling you this I'm sorry."
"Naa its okay. Regai ndimhanye."
As l made my way into the building l had mad an overall judgement. Turns out mahure anga asangana ndokuvaka musha.
I proceeded to the store rooms where l had to start that day. Then l bumped into her, sitting on the tiles crying. It didn't even make sense why she would be crying when less than a week ago l had just caught her shaging a coreworker. I mean the only difference was that he didn't know.
"Are you okay?" I asked ndichipinda paye.
"Do I look okay?" She replied.
Pakamboita kasilence as l didn't say anything else and then she continued, "I'm sorry l took it out on you."
"Its okay", l said, handed her a roll of tissues from the supplies.
She wiped her eyes, and then she stood up. "Thank you. You are a nice person Terrence. Your girlfriend is lucky"
She said. That clearly didn't mean much l mean she didn't even know me. I just smiled. She continued,
"Whats her name?"
"Well, unfortunately that day you band aided me, l had just come from loosing her."
"Ouch. I knew there was a story behind. So apparently you lost both the girl and the fight", ndakabva ndawanzirwa as she wiped her eyes again.
"You should have seen the other guy", i said smiling hangu.
"So that makes you what? Single?" She asked.
"For now yeah l guess."
"Whatever you do, find yourself a faithful person. Marriage is lifetime commitment", she got into the pep talk mode.
The irony in hearing it from her.
"That's the goal", l said.
"Good. I can't keep using my first aid kit on you. Patopora hapo at least", she said as she started examining pavanga vambondiisa band aid paye.
It wasn't my fault, she got too close zvekuti l could feel her heat radiating from her body without any physical contact. This time l quickly put my hand in my pocket, hid it. I really didn't understand what was happening to me but every time she got close l kept failing to control the stupid homornal charges.
"No need to put your hand in there already know", vakazongodaro as she stepped back.
That was awkward. She looked at me and l didn't know if l had to stare back or what. Everything was confusing me. She kept starring until eye contact was really hard to resist.
Until now I don't have understand kuti chii chaizvo chakaitika. But somewhere between those seconds we ended up kissing. Yap. I told you l don't know how it happened.
About 10 _15 seconds later, she pulled away like, "What am l doing?" and she walked out without saying a word.
*CHAPTER 6*
*NARRATION*
Mrs Moyo walked straight to Mr Tichaona's office ndokusvika nekuvhara door.
"Should we lock it? Looks like you are in the mood."
She didn't even smile. She sat down, crossed her fingers and he got serious too.
"You look so serious what's up?"
"I just came from the camera's feed. I saw you coming from Mr Nhau's office kuma 6pm the very day he sent Terrence there. Care to explain?"
"What do l have to explain?"
"What were you doing in there?"
"He sent me to pick up somethings in there. What, you think l would steal something as low as 30 dollars? Ndoidii?"
"Clearly you did cause l don't remember mentioning kuti imarii."
"I guessed. Asi ndiyo?"
"So here is what's gonna happen. You are going to take that envelope, with everything that was in there, and slide it under his door and_"
"What are you talking about? The kid got to go and that's final. You know what, yes l did take it but I'm not going to return it jus so he can stay to have leverage over me the entire year. I'm his supervisor for Christ's sake?"
"And I'm his manager. Your manager. And I'm saying you have until break."
"Or else what?"
She stood up and walked out without giving a reply.
*TERRY*
Totally the weirdest day ever. I couldn't stop thinking about her the whole day if I'm being honest. I had always fantasized it about several times l mean every time l saw her of course l would get some ideas but l never imagined it would ever happen.
Now my head was calculating zvawo wega the entire work day. I didn't even wait to tell Ryan ndanga ndatoisa message ini kudhara mukomana and of course be denied it. Even l couldn't believe it.
However after the kiss she had left in very unfavourable terms and l didn't even know how it was gonna go from there forth. But well, from the looks of it that was a tomorrow problem.
Ndakazo deedzwa naMr Nhau later that day zveafter lunch chaizvo. Ndaitoziva nyaya yacho ndisat ndaenda.
"So listen son, l don't care about the money which was in the envelope. I just need the documents, munema important reports arimo", he said and he really sounded desperate and he really wanted them.
The worst part was that he was almost certain kuti it was me who took them. The problem was getting worse and l had to clear my name. Then l got an idea.
"I have an idea sir. Does the hallway have cameras or something?"
"Why?"
"I'm beginning to think someone really took the envelope achida mari and maybe they prolly didn't know kuti mamune madocuments ari important."
He sighed. "Terrence."
"I swear to you sir handisi hangu mbavha."
"What l don't understand is ndakakupa keycard rangu and you weren't even the one who brought it back. Why?"
"I was intercepted sir by Mr Tichaona_"
"And you decided to ignore my task and do zvimwewo? You know how important this key card is? It can open all these rooms and you let it just pass through hands?"
Now ndanga ndaaku popoterwa. "I'm sorry sir, l_"
"You are sorry but my wife needs those documents. You think a sorry will give me those documents?"
"Excuse me sir", Mrs Moyo vakabva vasvika from behind me.
I didn't even need to turn around to know it was her. Mr Nhau shifted his angry face from me to Mrs Moyo. She continued.
"I'm sorry but l overhead your conversation with this young gentleman. I believe you are looking for this envelope", she said handing him the envelope and his face got all confused.
"Whats going on?" He asked. "You took these?"
"Of course not sir. And mostly likely not Terrence either. Can we have a word?" She said signaling him and with him still having a confused face they walked away.
Ndakasara ndakangomira paye trying to understand kuti chii chaiitika but l didn't get anything. Ndakazongo pfuurira mberi nezvandaiita. The rest of the entire day l didn't see Mrs Moyo. We didn't even cross paths and on the other hand, l didn't want to bump into her.
Day rakapera mushe ndikatoenda kumba. Mr Nhau kana kumbondi tsvaga. I got curious.
Following morning tanga tiripa morning meeting waiting for Mr Tichaona to assign us to our tasks when Mrs Moyo approached us with this other elderly guy who had been working in the Laundry department.
"Morning guys, I'm not going to take much of your time, this is Mr Dube. He will be your new supervisor from now on. Thank you", she said ndokubva Mr Dube vaye vatoita take over kutipa matasks.
It didn't add up. So after being assigned ndakazo tevera Mrs Moyo with one specific enquiry.
"Where is Mr Tichaona?" I asked curiously.
"Good morning to you too Terrence Ndira. What can l do for you?" She said ndobva ndaseka.
"Funny. Good morning maam?"
She smiled. "Mr Tichaona is no longer your problem so don't worry about him. Okay handsome?", she said as she continued to walk, with a half smile still plastered on her face.
"Hmm?"
"Infact, Mr Nhau wants you in his office today at 10. Don't miss it. Might just be important", she said vaakutosvika kuside kunema offices avo uko kwataisa tambira hedu usually so l stopped walked. "Nice shirt by the way. Urikutoonekerawo nhasi."
Ndakazosara papassage ndaaku smiler ndega. Damn she had me by the reins. Kuoffice kwaNhau ndakazoenda and there wasn't much. In short he was just being like heee I'm sorry l didn't believe you what what. He couldn't tell me enough details l guess it had something to do with keeping management issues out of my ears. But l knew somebody who had answers so l didn't pursue the issue. The basic issue was that l was off the hook and l was gonna stay away from makeys evanhu.
Later we had to go up to the 8th floor where we had a few rooms to prep.
"Guys l need excellency. Deputy Manager vanyatso specifyer kuti she will be doing inspection herself. So don't let me down" that was Mr Dube giving us that lecture for the 3rd time.
Takatosvika, we split tabuda mu elevator and then we headed to the rooms we had to rearrange thoroughly. My partner was Angela so takatoenda tese. Taitaura nyaya senyaya and she brought up the issue yaFadzi sefunny like, "arisei Fadzi?"
I ended up ndakuto explainer zvakaitika chii chii haa ndakasekwa and she was like, "Ndakambokuudza. Ndandatonzwa from the way you guys talked pacall yenyu."
We laughed it out and stuff basa richitsva. And then she changed the topic like, "So tave 2 masingwengwe."
I just laughed it off but she was way too serious about the way she kept repeating the parts where we were both single wasn't cool.
10 minutes later Mrs Moyo came, entered the room and started inspection isu takamira kumadziro. It was kinda weird how she intimidated everyone else but not me. Any chance l got l would stare.
"Angela,"
"Yes maam", Angy akadaira attentively.
"I need you to rush to finish up with the headboards. This is part of your attachment they should also be dusted okay?" She said still walking around the room.
"Okay maam", she said.
"Mr January?" She said turning to me.
"Yes maam?"
"Come with me", she said ndokubuda.
Angela was like, "man you are in trouble what did you do?" Achizevezera.
I followed her, we went to the elevator and continued to the 9th floor. The elevators was so quiet hapana aitaura nemumwe it was so awkward l tell you.
Takasvika paye, walked a few paces and reached a presidential suite entered. Everything was in order zvekuti ndakatombo shaya kuti maida kuitwei.
"So this is where you are for the next 10 to 15 minutes. Officially", she said, as she got off her heels.
"And unofficially?" I asked.
"Depends on what you wanna do in those 15minutes", she said and then my mind finally confirmed all the question marks in my head.
Something was definitely happening and l had to do something. I walked up to her and l was like, "I see..."
She didn't look at me anymore. She was avoiding eye contact at all cost. Either l just misread the signs or l really had to take over from there. Doesn't mean l was freaking out. Hana yairova but l had to ease up.
I walked up to her and she was like, "what are you doing?"
"What l decided to do with my 15 minutes", l said as a got even closer.
We were both facing the craziest thing that could have ever happened in our entire lives and yet the magnetic force was becoming a lil too intense to fight off. If I'm honest, l wasn't even trying to fight it off. I gathered a few guts and held her by the waist and she didn't even last 2 seconds she removed it and was like, "l can't do this", as she tried to walk away. Guess who pulled her back in that very instant. Hatinyemudzane zve. I wasn't taking another tease. I didn't even give her time to join dots l kissed her there and there and she kissed back, hesitated a bit as she shivered. She was clearly nervous. Like it was like her mind was trying to process all the possibilities at once. She didn't even trust me to start with and there l was, hearing a voice asking Mozisi unei this time.
Ndenge ndodawo zvinhu ini. Kana kusatya kwacho. Ruoko rwumwe rwanga rwatoenda kuseri kunomema Kenani nyika yehuchi nemukaka zvekuti tsvimbo yakazosara yorova gungwa dzvuku vaIsiraeri vatobira mhiri.
