Consisting of a Star Chart (Northern and Southern Hemispheres) and eight transparent templates. (Latitudes 0, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 75 degrees). The Star Chart shows the 57 stars tabulated in the Nautical Almanac. To use you first find the LHA of Aries, select the plate nearest your Latitude, align an arrow on the template with the LHA of Aries. From the template you can then read off the approximate altitude and azimuth of any selected star, or identify a star for which the altitude or azimuth is known.

1) You are doing indian coasting and exp heavy dense fishing traffic what precautions will u do, i started saying all navigation and collision prevention precautions, but he was not satisfied with that and asked what MS act says? will you report to ukmto? I said yes, he said as soon as u sent ukmto initial report u will get an acknowledgement, have u ever read that acknowledgement and it's given there what all precautions to take.. basically he expected for incident which happened in Indian coast regarding fishing boats got fired by the amred guards mistakenly thinking it was a piracy boat... I said sorry sir I need to check with that.

[18/02, 16:56] +44 7948 538896: SOLAS requires ECDIS installed. It does NOT say ECDIS must be PMN (Primary Means of Navigation)
SOLAS then says if ECDIS is PMN, then backup must be ECDIS.
So whether ECDIS is PMN can be confirmed visually in bridge (2xECDIS) supplemented by confirmation in Form E. (ECDIS listed as PMN).
If you see Paper and ECDIS in wheelhouse, you know ECDIS is not PMN and can confirm from Form E.

You could say Form E directly but how many CO have certificate file access on joining? Better to say requirements, what you see and then confirmation from Certificate.
[18/02, 17:12] +44 7948 538896: SOLAS Ch V Reg 19.2.10 Ships engaged on international voyages shall be fitted with an Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS)
Also See 2.1.4 and 2.1.5
2.1.4 says nautical charts required. ECDIS can meet nautical chart requirement
2.1.5 says backup required if (2.1).4 is met partly or wholly by electornic means

Nowhere it says you MUST have two ECDIS to meet carriage requirements. It can be:
1. paper charts (2.1.4) as *PMN* + ECDIS (2.10) *OR*
2. ECDIS as *PMN* (2.1.4 + 2.10) + ECDIS BACKUP (2.1.5)
In case 1 above, the requirements of 2.1.5 dont kick in because carriage requirement is met wholly by non-electornic means.
