In response, the private university has issued an apology for the unfortunate incident. Along with the suspension of the hostel staff, two security officials have also been relieved of their duties. The university has established a control room to aid the returning of Nepali students to their homes. The situation escalated after a third-year B Tech student was discovered dead in her hostel room on Sunday. This tragic event led to widespread protests involving over 500 Nepali students on campus. Tensions further rose when college authorities attempted to forcibly evict some students, prompting diplomatic intervention. The father of the deceased student claimed that she had been subjected to harassment and emotional blackmail, which he believes contributed to her death. He stated that an investigation is ongoing and that the post-mortem report is expected soon. According to him, those responsible for the harassment include one individual who has already been arrested. His son, who is also studying at the university, informed the family about the incident. The family has provided the girl's phone, laptop, and diary to forensic authorities as part of the investigation. With a demand for justice, the father voiced his concerns about students being asked to leave the campus. In solidarity, the student wing of the Nepali Congress party held a protest in Kathmandu, calling for justice for the young student. Following the tragic incident, KIIT had issued a notice demanding Nepali students vacate the campus indefinitely.
