Job Overview
This post is for internationally trained midwives who currently reside in the UK and have not yet sat their NMC OSCE but have passed their OET (if needed) and CBT. The successful candidates will be recruited at a band 4 working under the supervision of a UK NMC Registrant, once successfully on the NMC Register the candidate will be uplifted to band 5 as per agenda for change model. The 18-month programme is broken down into 6 months as a pre-preceptorship midwife followed by a 12-month preceptorship programme.
During the pre-preceptorship period you will be supported to prepare for OSCE exam and focus on adapting to key midwifery skills such as waterbirth, epidural care, neonatal care and fetal monitoring.
To meet the criteria for this post, candidates must have a Valid CBT with at least 6 months before expiration and, if the NMC requires it from your country of training, English Language (IELTs/OET) to minimum NMC Standards (with at least 6 months before expiration):
• IELTS – At least 7 for reading, listening, and speaking, and at least 6.5 for writing.
• OET – At least grade B (350 or above) for reading, listening, and speaking, and at least grade C+ (300 or above) for writing
Interviews will encompass a written and clinical assessment followed by a panel interview, all stages of assessment are based on core midwifery knowledge and skills. Following a successful offer, sponsorship can be provided if required to work.
Main duties of the job
1. To actively participate in all activities, training and learning opportunities to achieve UK NMC Registration in a timely manner
2. To actively participate in and complete the UCLH Preceptorship programme which aligns to Capital Midwife programme and the National Preceptorship Framework.
