Statement of Purpose for joining NHRC Online Short-Term InternshipI am a first-year law student at the University of Dehradun, and I have a keen interest in human rightslaw. have always been captivated by the role of law in safeguarding and advancing the dignity and rights of every individual, particularly those who are marginalized and vulnerable.
I want to join the NHRC online short-term internship program because I think it will be a valuable opportunity for me to learn from the experts and practitioners in the field of human rights. I want to gain a deeper understanding of the various human rights challenges and opportunities in India, and the role of the NHRC in addressing them. I also want to develop my skills and knowledge in human rights research, advocacy, and education, and contribute to the work of the Commission in promoting human rights literacy and awareness.
I have some experience and exposure in human rights-related activities, both academicI've had the opportunity to volunteer with a nearby non-profit organization that focuses on empowering women and providing legal assistance. During my time there, I've assisted with conducting awareness campaigns and workshops on a variety of legal and societal matters that impact women, including domestic violence, sexual harassment, and inheritance rights. Additionally, I've helped to draft petitions and complaints for individuals who have been victims of human rights violations.
I think that these experiences have helped me develop my analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills, as well as my passion and commitment to human rights. I am eager to learn more and enhance my abilities through the NHRC online short-term internship program. I am confident that I will benefit from the guidance and feedback of the NHRC staff and experts, and contribute to the Commission's objectives and activities. I hope this internship will be a stepping stone for me to pursue a career in human rights law and activism.
