Ever since ZESA increased tariffs and implemented extended loadshedding, many households in urban areas have turned to LP Gas for cooking. Currently, LP Gas is selling for US$1.58 per kg. Most people use set-top gas stoves priced at just US$2, which screw on top of their gas tanks (3kg tanks sell for US$13 at shops like JB and Muhommed Mussa).
However, four-plate gas stoves with ovens range from US$145 to US$180, with higher-end models costing even more. A budget option, the Ceedeye gas stove, has gained popularity in Harare as it doesn't require a stand and is selling for US$45 at JB shop in Mbare, while some sellers in town are asking around US$55. Based on our review, we estimate its lifespan to be 2-5 years depending on usage.
