Did you know that in most parts of Chitungwiza, residents only get running water once a week, usually on Fridays in the dead of night? Families have adapted by using dozens of buckets and small water tanks, spending the night filling them up for when the taps inevitably run dry. This situation has persisted for nearly a decade.
If you fail to wake up and fill your containers, you'll need to search for people with boreholes who sell water per bucket. Prices can be as low as US$1 for 8 buckets during the wet months, but can rise to US$1 for just 2 buckets during the scorching heat of October when most boreholes run dry.
