*US Deports 85 Nigerians Under Trump's Immigration Policy; Convicts Among First Batch*
In line with President Donald Trump's immigration policy, the United States is set to deport *201 Nigerians, with *85* cleared for immediate deportation.
The first batch includes convicted prisoners serving jail terms in U.S. prisons, according to U.S. Ambassador to Nigeria Richard Mills Jr. These deportees will be taken to Lagos.
Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Mrs. Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, has urged for dignified treatment of deportees, many of whom are manacled during deportation.
She also requested that deportees be allowed to retrieve their assets in the U.S. before repatriation, highlighting the emotional and financial impact on families in Nigeria who rely on remittances from the U.S. for survival and education.
The U.S. Ambassador assured that the Drop Box Visa Policy remains unchanged, despite concerns over potential changes under the new administration.
The U.S. government has been aggressively pursuing the deportation of undocumented immigrants from various countries, including Colombia, Mexico, and India.
