At least seven persons were on Tuesday morning said to be injured with properties destroyed when hoodlums attacked the over 70 year old Bamyam Theological Seminary, Karim Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba state.
A member of the Global Methodist Church, owners of the seminary, Ibrahim Zuppai, told our correspondent that the hoodlums were yesterday chased away by soldiers only to regroup again when the soldiers left.
Zuppai said: "Some people were injured and properties were destroyed. They went yesterday but were chased away by soldiers. They came back again this morning and chased away students.
"I was informed that about seven pastors were wounded. I spoke with a wounded pastor and the accountant. He too was seriously wounded. The school is under the Global Methodist Church. As i am speaking to you, the Bishop John Pena has gone there to see what is happening".
Efforts to get the Spokesmen of both the military and police in the state were unsuccessful as both did not pick their calls.
The Global Methodist Church has broken away from the United Methodist Church after the latter legalized same-sex marriage last year.
Since then, there has been tension in the church over the control of the vast assets of the church.
The latest attack may not be unconnected to the prolonged crisis between the two parties.
