Alhamdulillah, a wonderful conclusion—ختامه مسك.
Our Shaykh Salih Al Shaykh حفظه الله has just wrapped up the final lecture of a month-long conference on Fiqh, conducted by the experts in Usul and Fiqh from across the Kingdom.
Tonight was a special occasion, as Sh. Salih rarely teaches. This is the second time in a few months that he has conducted classes (a few months ago he taught us Tafsir Surah Yasin in al-Madinah).
Tonight's lecture was on building fiqh skills, training one into becoming a Fiqh scholar. Almost every sentence was worth writing down, and tonight showcased the very reason why his lectures are transcribed and put into book form.
Among the key points the Shaykh emphasized was the importance of establishing a solid fiqh foundation based on a Fiqh Madhhab.
He also highlighted that a Faqeeh must engage with the community and address their questions to better understand their circumstances. Those who do not interact with the general public are likely to make more mistakes compared to those who do.
However, one can become familiar with the people's situations by either:
1. mixing with them or
2. Accompanying a qualified Mufti who provides religious verdicts. This can be achieved by:
A. being present during their question-and-answer sessions, B. listening to their recorded responses, or
C. reading books on Fataawa.
Subhanallah, these are just a few of the countless pearls gathered from the major flood tonight at al-Masjid al-Haram.
