The 100-bed Maternal and Child Health Hospital in Kunduz province has been officially inaugurated and is now fully operational.
Funded by the Ministry of Public Health of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, the hospital is equipped with state-of-the-art medical technology and staffed by 130 healthcare professionals.
A formal inauguration ceremony was held, attended by the Deputy Governor of Kunduz, the Director of Public Health, senior officials from government institutions, representatives from national and international partner organisations, private sector stakeholders, community elders, and medical personnel.
Speaking at the event, Dr Mohammadullah Hikmat, the Director of Public Health in Kunduz, expressed profound appreciation for the unwavering commitment of the Ministry of Public Health in supporting the people of Kunduz and the wider northeastern region. He emphasised that the hospital's activation would greatly alleviate the burden on patients and their families, ensuring accessible and high-quality healthcare services.
Following the formal proceedings, attendees toured the facility, inspecting its modern medical infrastructure. Many expressed gratitude and optimism, highlighting the significant role the hospital will play in enhancing maternal and child health services in the region.
