HAPPY THURSDAY EVERYONE❤️💚
Hope you are on good health.
After the budget speech postponement, there was a lot of mixed feelings. Many wanting COMPLIANCE to win, other a wanting “REVIEW-RETHINK the budget” the budget to win.
UNPRECEDENTED.
I doubt many even understand the implication of the budget speech, some only listen to hear if social grants will increase, and we can’t blame them cause I think we can do more in education our people about all the important speeches that gets delivered in different platforms by our politicians.
I saw this post and thought it captured the whole issue nicely, and felt it’s worth sharing:
“BALANCING THE BUDGET OR BURDENING THE POOR?
A Simple Solution or a Bigger Problem for South Africans?
🛑 What’s Happening?
• The government is considering increasing VAT from 15% to 17% to raise money for public services.
• This means everything you buy will become more expensive—food, transport, electricity, and daily essentials.
💰 Why Does Government Want to Raise VAT?
• To collect more money for hospitals, schools, and social grants.
• But is this the best way?
⚠️ Who Will Be Affected the Most?
🚨 Ordinary South Africans – Higher prices mean your salary or grant won’t stretch as far.
🚨 Small Businesses – More expensive goods could lead to fewer customers and job losses.
🚨 Social Grant Recipients – The cost of living will rise, making grants less helpful.
🔎 Is There a Better Solution?
✅ Cut wasteful spending – Billions are lost due to corruption and unnecessary expenses.
✅ Tax the rich and big companies instead of making everyone pay more.
✅ Improve tax collection to ensure everyone pays their fair share.

Have a lovely Day ❤️💚
