*📰 ZETDC Covers Funeral Costs as Beitbridge Community Mourns 6-Year-Old Nothando Vurayayi After Tragic Electrocution* Nothando Vurayayi, a 6-year-old girl from Beitbridge who died from electrocution at her home, was buried last week in her village near Sosera Halt, Bikita. The incident occurred while workers from the Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission Distribution Company (ZETDC) were present. ZETDC covered the costs of Nothando's funeral, including the coffin, food, hearse, and a bus for mourners traveling from Beitbridge. Alaina Suliwa, a ZETDC relations executive, stated that an investigation into the incident is ongoing but did not provide further details. “We will share more information once the investigation is complete,” she said. A family member mentioned that ZETDC officials met with them after a news report about the tragedy. The initial meeting was moved to avoid public anger. “They offered to pay all the funeral expenses, which they did,” the relative said. Reports indicate that ZETDC workers connected an earth cable to a water tap, which Nothando and a friend approached for water. When Nothando touched the tap, she was electrocuted. Her friend attempted to rescue her but was thrown against a fence by the electric shock. After the accident, ZETDC workers tried to revive Nothando but were unsuccessful. She was taken to a doctor, where she was pronounced dead upon arrival. Nothando had just started school this year. -NewsDay 👀👀
