Modesty (hayā’) applies to both men and women. For men, modesty is reflected in their dress, speech, actions, and interactions with others. The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) emphasized that hayā’ is a part of faith (Imaan). Men are encouraged to dress decently, lower their gaze, and avoid arrogance or boastfulness. The Quran commands believing men to lower their gaze and guard their chastity (Surah An-Nur 24:30). Modesty in Islam is not just external but also internal, fostering humility, self-discipline, and respect for others.
