*Keep Your Anger in Check*
_By Archbishop Charles Agyinasare_
_Day 38 (07/02/2025)_
> _*Proverbs 14:29 (NKJV) “He who is slow to wrath has great understanding, But he who is impulsive exalts folly.”*_
Elizabeth Kenny once said, “He who angers you conquers you.” Anger is an extremely powerful emotion which, if not controlled, causes severe damage: it can destroy lives, tear relationships apart, and ruin opportunities. Anger is an extremely powerful emotion which can be controlled. Here are three steps you can take to avoid the devastating consequences of uncontrolled anger:
1. *Do not sit in denial of anger.*
First and foremost, you have to admit it when you are angry. Irrespective of what the source of your anger may be, you will never overcome this negative emotion until you own up to its presence in your life. Admit you are angry because it is okay to be angry.
2. *Identify the source of your anger and deal with it quickly.*
After you have admitted you are angry, you have to identify the source of this negative emotion. Ask yourself, “Why am I reacting like this? Why am I angry?” Once you have figured out where your irritation comes from, deal with it quickly. Apostle Paul recommends in Ephesians 4:26 (NIV), “‘In your anger do not sin’: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry”.
3. *Learn to forgive often.*
Finally, when we have identified the source of our anger, if it is a person, we need to forgive him or her and move on. The Bible says in Ephesians 4:32 (NKJV), “And be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.” Oftentimes, it is difficult to let go or forgive when we get angry, but that is the most important aspect of dealing with anger. We cannot fail to forgive since God first forgave us by offering Jesus Christ as a sacrifice.
_Precious one, do not allow anger to control and destroy the good things in your life. Admit that you are angry, identify the source of your anger, and forgive, and you will avoid the devastating effects of anger._
*Prayer:*
_Heavenly Father, deliver me from the spirit of uncontrolled anger, and empower me to control my anger in Jesus’ name. Amen. _
