*Flee from Danger Zones*
_By Archbishop Charles Agyinasare_
*Day 39 (08/02/2025)*
> _*1 Timothy 6:11 (NKJV) "But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness."*_
In a 2005 National Geographic article, an interesting observation was made about that year’s Tsunami. Before the giant waves hit the Sri Lanka and India coastlines, wild and domestic animals within the territory seemed to know. According to eyewitnesses, elephants screamed and ran to safety, dogs refused to go outdoors, and zoo animals took refuge in their shelters and would not come out. These animals seemed to know the impending danger and fled to safety.
In the Cross text above, Apostle Paul, seeing impending danger from his position of authority, warned his protégé Timothy to run away to safety.
Here are three dangers we must run away from:
1. *Flee from strange shepherds.*
John 10:5 (NKJV) "Yet they will by no means follow a stranger, but will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers.”
Jesus, the good shepherd, has assigned His under-shepherds (pastors) to make known His voice to His people. Knowing the voice of the Lord will help us ignore all contradictory voices of strangers. We must turn away from false teachers whose voice is contrary to the sound doctrine of the Gospel. Studying the word and relying on the Holy Spirit will guarantee our safety from such.
2. *Flee from idolatry.*
1 Corinthians 10:14 (NKJV) "Therefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry."
Serving Christ involves making a conscious decision to shun idols and other gods for the only true God. Besides carved images and objects of nature, anything in our lives that competes with God for pre-eminence in our lives, like money, fashion or sports, becomes an idol. Our God whose name is Jealous, commands that we worship Him alone; thus, we must consciously remove anything that seeks to take His place in our lives.
3. *Flee sexual immorality.*
1 Corinthians 6:18 (NKJV) "Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body.”
Pornography, masturbation, fornication, adultery, homosexuality and bestiality are some forms of sexual immorality. As believers, we are commanded to flee from such acts because they defile us and destroy our faith, family, ministry and career when we indulge in them. Instead, we must pursue righteousness, godliness and such things that edify.
_Precious one, stay sensitive to the Holy Spirit so that you can flee from strange shepherds, idolatry and sexual immorality, in order that you do not shipwreck your Christian faith._
*Prayer:*
_Heavenly Father, I receive grace to flee from paths and persons that are harmful to my Christian faith, in Jesus’ name. Amen._
