*Make Love Your Great Quest* _By Archbishop Charles Agyinasare_ _Day 46 (15/02/2025)_ > *_1 Corinthians 14:1 (AMPC) “Eagerly pursue and seek is to acquire [this] love [make it your aim, your great quest] …”_* The Lord Jesus Christ, before his departure from the earth, gave His disciples in new commandment: the commandment of love. He commanded them to love one another just as he had loved them. He also to them that their love was going to be the proof that they were his disciples. Apostle Paul, also writing to the church, instructed them to pursue the love of God. He told them to make love their aim and to make it their great quest. Every child of God must endeavour to always walk in love because God is love. And we must understand that the love of God is a command directed towards our attitude, and not our emotions. Here are three characteristics of the love of God: 1. *Love endures long and is patient.* 1 Corinthians 13:4 (AMPC) says, “Love endures long and is patient…” The love of God has the capacity to endure difficulty and poor treatment from others. It has the quality of being patient with people even when they are being intolerable. Just as God has endured all our sins, failures and mistakes, and has been patient towards us, we must do likewise towards others. 2. *Love is kind.* 1 Corinthians 13:4 (AMPC) says, “Love endures long and is patient and kind…” The love of God shows kindness always in all situations. Many people, for example, may endure the irritating attitude of their spouse but they are not kind while enduring it. We are naturally harsh towards those who are irritating and offensive but the love of God responds with kindness—lovingkindness. 3. *Love is not self-seeking.* 1 Corinthians 13:5 says, “…Love (God’s love in us) does not insist on its own rights or its own way, for it is not self-seeking…” The love of God is not selfish. To walk in the love of God, we must learn to put other people first. For example, one must learn to put the interest and well-being of their spouse before theirs. As we esteem others more importantly than ourselves, we demonstrate the love of God just us Jesus laid down his life for our salvation. _Precious one, remember that the love of God is the greatest virtue to be pursued as a child of God. And everyone who is a child of God has the capacity to walk in the love of God because the Holy Spirit sheds this love on us._ *Prayer:* _Heavenly Father, I thank You for Your great love abiding in my heart by the power of the Holy Spirit; I walk in love always, in Jesus’ name.
