Midlands Police Spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the matter to The Mirror. Mahoko said there had been no mining activities at the shaft since the rainy season began late last year. Circumstances are that Maxwell Mutakura (27), an employee at the mine was pumping water out of the shaft. Mutakura went into the shaft to check on the water level and in the process came across the body. The upper body was submerged in water and only the lower half was visible. A Police report was filed and the body was retrieved and taken to Mvuma District Hospital for postmortem. Mahoko appealed to those with missing male relatives to come and identify the body. “We are appealing to members of the public who might be missing a relative to come forward and identity this body in Mvuma since the body was taken to Mvuma Hospital awaiting for post mortem,” said Mahoko. *Masvingo mirror*
