*Shari'a*
`The shari'a is the totality of firm judgements revealed by God in the Qur'aan and Sunna, and whatever is derived from these judgements through JURISPRUDENCE. JURISPRUDENCE is the method of discovering detailed legal provisions from specific evidence drawn from the Qur'aan and Sunnah. The Jurist must exercise reflection and careful thought to solve problems whose solutions are not immediately apparent.WHILE THE SHARI'A IS THE GOAL, JURISPRUDENCE IS THE ROAD TO IT.`
*WORD MEANINGS*
> Jurisprudence is an English term which translates to 'fiqh' in Arabic. Over and above the above-mentioned meaning fiqh also means to deduce the unknown from what is known. For example, one is in a situation wherein he doesn't know how to do a certain religious obligation a person well-versed in jurisprudence will have to derive the solution from the Qur'aan or the Sunnah (thus the known which will be used to get a solution of an unknown situation which would have arised.
