NIGERIA IMMIGRATION SERVICE COMMENCES 5-DAY CAPACITY BUILDING ON ADVANCED PASSENGER INFORMATION/PASSENGER NAME RECORDS DATA APPLICATION IN NATIONAL SECURITY AND LAW ENFORCEMENT
The Nigeria Immigration Service has commenced a 5-day capacity-building program focused on the application of Advanced Passenger Information (API) and Passenger Name Record (PNR) data in National Security and Law Enforcement.
During her remarks at the opening ceremony held in the Service Headquarters on Monday, the Comptroller General, KN Nandap, pcc, mmis, fsmn, ably represented by the Deputy Comptroller General (DCG) in charge of Works and Logistics Directorate, AJ Umanah, emphasized the importance of API/PNR data in modern security frameworks. She added that real-time access to passenger information enhances the ability of the Service to detect and deter potential threats, while also facilitating seamless and secured cross-border movement.
She further urged all participants to be focused, actively engage in discussions, and maximize the training opportunity to strengthen their capacity in handling migration data for National Security.
Also speaking at the event, Program Management Specialists from the United Nations Office of Counter Terrorism (UNOCT), Mr. Dennis Hand (Law Enforcement Expert) and Mr. Robert Musgrave (PIU Expert) pledged to provide expert guidance.
The training underscores the commitment of the Service to adopting cutting-edge technologies in enhancing National Security and promoting global best practices in Migration Management.
