Option 1: @monad_xyz might require you to follow their X account as a compulsory task to participate in their Testnet. This would help filter out bots, since they know a lot of people are eagerly awaiting the testnet, and many will max farm. Option 2: They might use following their X account as a multiplier when it comes to awarding airdrops to Testnet participants. Personally, I lean toward the first option.
