Every letter earns ten rewards: The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Whoever recites a letter from the Book of Allah, he will receive a good deed for it, and the good deed is multiplied by ten.” (Tirmidhi 2910, Sahih) The best approach is to both recite and understand the Quran. However, saying that recitation alone has no benefit contradicts clear Hadiths. A balanced view is to encourage recitation while also striving to understand and implement its teachings.
