SOUL FOOD DEVOTIONAL *THE FRUIT OF CONFIDENCE IN GOD 3* *SOURCE OF CONFIDENCE* Hebrews 13:6 6. So we say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?" NIV Confidence in God is the product of revelation. Insight into the person and character of God produces strong faith and confidence in Him. An ignorant person can never have confidence in God. This is why God complained that His people are destroyed from lack of Knowledge (Hosea 4:6). The more a man knows and understands God, the stronger his positive convictions. The stronger the believer’s positive convictions about the person of God, the stronger his faith and confidence in Him. Shallow knowledge will produce a weak faith that will not be able to stand in the face of strong opposition and temptation. Deep revelations will produce strong faith. The more you know God and His ways, the stronger you become and the more stable your faith and confidence in God. Prophet Elisha’s confidence in God helped him do extraordinary miracles for God. His insight into the person of God and supernatural revelations gave him great confidence. When the king of Syria sent soldiers to have him arrested and brought to him, he showed great confidence and never feared. He prayed for his servant’s eyes to be opened so he could see that those who were with them are more than those against them. When his servant’s eyes were opened, his confidence was greatly increased. God blinded the soldiers in response to Elisha’s prayers and Elisha led them to the king. 2 Kings 6:15-17 15. And when the servant of the man of God arose early and went out, there was an army, surrounding the city with horses and chariots. And his servant said to him, "Alas, my master! What shall we do?" 16. So he answered, "Do not fear, for those who [are] with us [are] more than those who [are] with them." 17. And Elisha prayed, and said, "LORD, I pray, open his eyes that he may see." Then the LORD opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw. And behold, the mountain [was] full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. NKJV Revelation comes by diligent study and meditation on the word of God. Proverbs 2:1-6 1. My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you, 2. turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding, 3. and if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, 4. and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, 5. then you will understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God. 6. For the LORD gives wisdom, and from his mouth come knowledge and understanding. NIV Revelation comes by giving oneself to hearing the teaching of the word of God. Someone who has been enlightened has to enlighten you. For this to happen, you need to come with a teachable spirit and submit to God’s anointed ministers to teach and share with you what God has taught them. Many people come to God with a closed mind – they hold unto what they previously believe and are not willing to let go or try to compare to find out which is the truth. Come to God with an open-heart willing to learn and walk with the truth. Give yourself to the word of God and you will gain confidence. I pray that you will gain spiritual revelation that will strengthen your confidence in God and help you live victoriously in Jesus name. Apostle Sylvester Onyemalechi www.jfoutreach.com
