*"Al-Dayyouth"* *(The Man with no sense of honour towards his family).* 1. Respected readers, some Muslims share pictures of those who are called "celebrities" as a way to express their disapproval of the level of shamelessness and lack of sense of honour these "celebrities" have reached. So I say; Those so-called "celebrities" who promote sins and shamelessness are destroying the fortress of the Muslims from within. *Our Prophet ﷺ said: "Modesty (haya') and Iman (faith) are inseparable; if one of them vanishes the other one follows it.*" Calling them "celebrities" is a beautification to their depravity, and what is correct is to call them spreaders of obscenity; on whom the words of Allah the Almighty apply: {*Indeed, those who love to see indecency spread [or publicized] among the believers will suffer a painful punishment in this life and the Hereafter. Allah knows and you do not know.}* Surat An-Nur 24:19. 2. Sharing and spreading inappropriate pictures of these corrupters is not Islamically justified, and it opens one of the biggest doors of evil; something which people have taken lightly, and this is among the things which cause the heart to die when one gets used to looking at these pictures. 3. It's from the honour and dignity of the Muslim to rise above following such people and their news. For what else do you expect from these evil environments?! So turn away from them and occupy yourself with what's beneficial. 4. While we hope from Allah to restrain the harm of these people from the Muslims; we supplicate Allah to guide them. 5. But what really draws attention here is the speech by some of those who are [falsely] attributed to [religious] knowledge; that which belittles the wickedness of these corrupters, and makes their sin appear just like other sins. Rather, they criticise the ones who describe these [corrupters] as 'Dayyouthon'; which was what necessitated this statement, in order to alert people to the watering down of principles. As otherwise, I don't normally occupy myself with such topics. 6. Respected readers; we all sin; however, there's a big difference between the one who sins, yet admits his sin, and doesn't expose himself when Allah had concealed him. He might fall into a major sin, however, he admits it, repents from it or in the very least he doesn't disclose it openly. There's a difference between such a person and the corrupters who persist in their sins, boast about them, and call [others] to these sins. Our Prophet ﷺ said, "All the people of my Ummah will receive muāfat (*) except the Mujahirin..." Who are the Mujahirin? Those who commit a sin and then disclose their sins to people although Allah had concealed them (from the eyes of the people). So how about those who film and record their sins then proudly publicize them to the widest audience possible (thereby encouraging people to commit these same sins); who play a part in the agenda to change society's values and principles and normalize sins as a part of the prevailing culture?! - In a hadith narrated in Sahih Muslim, our Prophet ﷺ said: "...and whoever introduces an evil practice in Islam will bear the burden like that of one who followed this (evil practise) without their burden being diminished in any respect". 7. When you water down this decisive barrier between these two categories, then it's neither from wisdom nor tolerance, nor mercy, nor from broad-mindedness nor from being understanding; but rather it's from watering down principles; something which consequently diminishes one's repulsion from immorality and disobedience. 8. Rather, the strangest thing is to see someone who on top of belittling the wickedness of the corrupters, also criticizes the masses who condemn this wickedness; he insults them, and describes them as self-proclaimed "morality police"! Although, when people condemn such evil they are fulfilling an obligation; {Let there be a group among you who call ˹others˺ to goodness, encourage what is good, and forbid what is evil—it is they who will be successful.} Surat Ali 'Imran 3:104. And this is a very strange deviation! 9. He might tell you: "These people who call these celebrities 'dayyouthon'; they themselves commit big sins, but society doesn't condemn them accordingly." So we say him: at that time, in order to be balanced/fair, you must treat each of the two evils accordingly, denounce it, repel people from it, and call them not to contradict themselves; commanding others to do good and forgetting about themselves. That's what you must do, not belittle the evil deeds of the corrupters. And Allah is the one sought for help. _______ (*) Muāfāt here means: 1) forgiveness and pardon for their sins and/or 2) that they will be spared people's criticism and gossip/backbiting for their sin and/or 3) that they will be spared the Islamically prescribed punishment (hadd) for their sin because they concealed their sin from the eyes and ears of the people. However, all of this does not mean that Allah will not forgive the mujahir, because the door of repentance is always open for those who repent sincerely to Allah the Almighty. 🔶 Linguistic note: It's incorrect that 'al- dayyouth' is only the one who is okay with his spouse committing Zina (adultery) with another man. Al-Zubaidi said in [Taj Al-'Arous, part 3, page 213] in the dictionaries: "Al-dayyouth is known; he is one who is the pimp of his own wife, and who has no sense of honour/jealousy (gheera) towards his wife. In [Al-Muhkam]: [Al-dayyouth is the one who allows men to enter a place where they can see his wife; as if he has been taking it lightly on himself.], and it's the same definition reported in [Lisan Al-Arab, part 4, page 336]: "Al-dayyouth is the pimp of his own wife and who has no sense of honour/jealousy (gheera) towards her." Moreover, many scholars said that if a man calls another man "dayyouth", the man swearing shouldn't be lashed [the number of lashes subscribed for falsely accusing the chaste woman of committing adultery, because calling someone a "dayyouth" doesn't necessarily mean/imply accusing him that his wife committed adultery. So, the word (dayyouth) doesn't only encompass the one who is okay with his spouse committing Zina (adultery) with another man, but it also includes the one who has no sense of honour/jealousy (gheera) towards his wive(s). _______________ #islam #dawah #modesty #honor #movie #tvshow #celebrities #corruption #netflix
