It happened to me before that while sleeping, I had a nightmare, and I realized that it was just a dream, so I became relieved and relaxed! That's because I compared it to the better reality that awaited me upon waking.
The beauty of living with the Qur’an is that it makes you perceive the pain of this life as just a dream, and makes you live an awaited beautiful reality; the reality of the ultimate outcome of the battle between truth and falsehood, and the reality of the eternal life of the hereafter.
You read in the Qur’an, what can be translated as: {And to Allāh belongs [all] honor, and to His Messenger, and to the believers, but the hypocrites do not know.} Surat Al-Munafiqun 63:8, and {˹As for˺ those who defy Allah and His Messenger, they will definitely be among the most debased.} Surat Al-Mujadila 58:20.
Thus, you understand that the humiliation of the believers and the glory of the disbelievers is but a nightmare that will soon vanish, and you will then arrive at that very reality which the Quran allows you to fathom at the present moment.
You read: {Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasure, (13) And indeed, the wicked will be in Hellfire.(14)} (Quran translated meanings; Surat Al-Infitar 82:13-14).
So you realize that the pleasures enjoyed by the wicked and the distress suffered by the righteous in this worldly life are but a nightmare; just an elusive nightmare that will quickly pass, and you will soon wake up to a real and eternal existence which the Qur’an makes you fathom in the present moment!
With this real feeling, your pain can turn into pleasure! Because when you compare it with the awaited reality, and you realize the difference, you become like one who can't wait to enjoy the delight of eating after a long fast.
You can only experience such a feeling of delight and tranquility by living with the Qur'an on a daily basis.
Something that, whoever is deprived of it even for just one day, has indeed been deprived of much good, as he must go through the illusory nightmare of this worldly life thinking it's real... {And what is the life of this world except an illusory enjoyment.} (Quran translated meanings; Surat Ali 'Imran 3:185).
The more you live with the Qur'an, reading it and reflecting upon it, the closer to the reality you will become and you will feel less concerned about the nightmare.
This Dunya (worldly life) is a dream in every sense of the word.
It is absolute heedlessness to deal with it in any other way, only to realize this truth on the Day of Resurrection; on the day when it will be said to the one who turned away from the truth: {"You were indeed heedless of this. Now we have removed your veil and so your vision today is razor sharp [as you see the true reality and that which the Prophets foretold].”} (Quran translated meanings; Surat Qaf 50:22).
