Indian Railways is set to launch the world's most powerful hydrogen-powered train in March 2025, boasting an impressive 1,200 horsepower—far surpassing the typical 500-600 horsepower seen globally! Hydrogen-powered trains operate using fuel cells that combine hydrogen and oxygen to produce electricity. This results in zero harmful emissions, with water vapour as the only byproduct. The energy generated powers the train’s electric motors, enabling it to run on non-electrified tracks, eliminating the need for costly overhead wiring infrastructure. The first hydrogen train will operate on the Jind-Sonipat section in Delhi, with plans to introduce 35 trains on heritage routes across India. Featuring eight passenger coaches and two hydrogen storage coaches, the train can accommodate over 2,500 passengers and reach speeds of up to 140 kmph! This marks a major step toward India’s 2030 net-zero goal, reinforcing its commitment to clean energy and sustainable transport. #hydrogentrain #sustainablefuture #zeroemissions #indianrailways #innovation #greentransport #india [Hydrogen-powered train, Indian Railways, Sustainable transportation, Zero-emission transport]
