What does it take to find love after 50? For senior citizens in Pune, it takes a one-time fee of Rs 7,000 and the hope of a second chance. Meet Madhav Damle, the man behind Happy Seniors, a matchmaking initiative that helps elderly singles find companionship and love in their golden years. With a pragmatic approach — ensuring financial stability and addressing legal concerns — he has helped over 75 seniors find happiness in live-in relationships. Madhav’s journey began when he saw the loneliness faced by the elderly in old age homes. Determined to bring change, he started Happy Seniors in 2012, challenging taboos around love in later years. As India slowly embraces live-in relationships for seniors, Happy Seniors continues to grow, welcoming 20 new members every month. "Companionship matters more than a wedding certificate," says Madhav, who ensures all members are financially secure before matching them. Each couple even maintains a joint financial plan to safeguard their independence. Currently, Happy Seniors connects elderly individuals from Pune, Nagpur, and Mumbai. Love, indeed, knows no limits.
