Every year, in a breathtaking display of nature’s rhythm, thousands of Olive Ridley sea turtles return to Odisha’s shores for their mass nesting event, known as Arribada — a Spanish word meaning 'arrival'.
This year, breaking all records, over 7 lakh turtles have arrived at the Rushikulya rookery, transforming the beach into a sea of life.
This synchronised nesting, a rare phenomenon observed in only a few places worldwide, underscores the delicate balance of marine ecosystems.
As these gentle marine creatures dig nests and lay eggs, they become part of one of nature’s most extraordinary survival stories.
