SERIES 8 OF CAREER COACHING WITH OMIL.
LET US ANSWER THE SALARY EXPECTATION QUESTION.
First of all, there is no standard answer for this question. It is banter, entirely. It is a game played between the employer, recruiting agent, and then YOU. For that reason, I highly encourage you to understand or know your value. There is A FIGURE that’s a total disgrace to your value proposition. Do not accept it. I am speaking to candidates who understand their numbers and what they bring to the companies.
When asked about salary expectations, it's important to respond confidently and thoughtfully.
Here’s a strategy:
1. Do Your Research: Understand the industry standard for the role and your experience level.
2. Provide a Range: Give a salary range based on your research, leaving room for negotiation. Example: "Based on my experience and market research, I’m looking for a salary between $50,000 and $60,000."
3. Express Flexibility: Indicate that you're open to discussing the overall compensation package. Example:
"I’m open to discussing this further depending on the full benefits package and job responsibilities."
4. Be Honest: Ensure your range aligns with your skills, experience, and expectations.
This approach shows you're informed, reasonable, and flexible.
