*IdM|NewzFlash: SmashMaker [Artist & the Arts]*
-Artist & the Arts, in a perfect world Art rules, and all else follows-
"The opposite of depression is expression. Art is expression of feelings/emotions, imagination, and ideas, through the medium of music, theatre/film, Visual Arts, and Dance." A teacher once said to me those words, and i noted them for a lifetime. However it is in the questionnaire responses i received from the subject person to this NewzFlash Profile, that i grew to know how those words manifested, in such a unique way, from one artist to another.
His Name; George Roy Freedom Nkosi, or SmashMaker. A dynamic Musician and Music Producer, with a unique track record as well as an interesting coming to stage story. The assertion for this essay is; *When on your way to a goal, trust the process, that is what builds character.*
*Reflection*
_____________
"I don't want a premature breakthrough, as it will result in a premature collapse of my career." SmashMaker made this confession and prophecy, in his emotive writings to me. What i could tell was that he spoke from a place of having have journeyed and saw what it truly took to get to his destination, which at this moment looks nearer than he's ever seen it before.
He recalls some of the most important detours, that he's taken throughout his music journey. It is these recollections that he bases that confession and prophecy. "I got inspired by some of the most unlikiliest of people. A brother from Jamaica, whom goes by the stage name Dynamo y13."
He says they met on Social media with Dynamo y13, however the impact Dynamo went on to have on his career remains indelible. "...he enlightened me on the business side of Music. Taught me of the distributors aspect of things, and that one could too make money from that." SmashMaker articulated.
Although here locally, on ground the name SmashMaker, you probably haven't heard of it until now. "I haven't gotten hefty paying gigs here in Zimbabwe, and i owe that to the fact that my ground presence is relative to my local marketing and PR work, not competitive." He said.
He's performed at the Airfoce of Zimbabwe's interbase sports competition, where he cites to have shared the stage with the likes of The Airfoce Band, Unkut/Legion, and the well renowned Sulumani "Sulu" Chimbetu. "There i think i received my most notable audience, and the response was positive, to the point my regular or immediate supporters i believe come from that gig."
*Compounding Reflection*
________________
Having have stepped into the studio, in what he recalls to be his first time, in the year 2012, SmashMaker notes that indeed he's came a long way, to not appreciate the moments here now. "It was at the studios known as Dragum studios, in Zimbabwe's Nkulumane Bulawayo, and it was a House music song. Shout-out to Mpumelelo Nyathi[Cruz] and Brandon Bhebhe[Lytie], those people artistically raised me then."
He describes his artistic acumen to have always been something he felt was to lead him to an artistic career. Given when a moment of confidence arrived, and he created something from his own artistic fecundity or fertility, he cites that moment to had been his own the rest is history moment.
Subsequently from the 2012 Dragum studios moment, he went on to learn FL studio. "My ideas were already there, however software literacy was the only missing aspect, and that moment or detour from the mic on hand journey, led to my nothing short of fantastic Music Producer career. It was then around that time and through that Music Producer career that i met Dean Hunter or Dynamo y13.
Meeting him led not only to Music business lessons, however links in Jamaica." SmashMaker told. His detour career blossomed, growing his artistic acumen, leading to a full fledged independent artist, with vast experiences, and a name/footprint in Jamaica. Registering with ZIMURA or the Zimbabwe Music Rights Association, he reckons that to have been one of the best advices he received from Dynamo y13.
It was so because he's from ZIMURA received royalties at times, and that as a consequence of them functioning as protection to his work and interests. Meaning they on his behalf collect royalties from music users, i.e. Radio stations, TV Programs and many more. ```[See how to register with ZIMURA beneath this profile]```

Given Mr. Nkosi preferred to keep the innermost personal parts of his story to himself, he for this part, opted to give me personal insight into his work. In a way he let me into his personal world that way, and as a Writer, as well as Artist to Artist, i resonated with it, and it gave me something to work with.
"I have a new single out. One friend told me that i have a lot to offer, and that i should not give up, after producing all the previous works i have. So for this new chapter in my journey, i created this new single, *Kupinda*." That i felt through his text. SmashMaker was letting me into his personal world. [Check out the IdM|Promos segment on SmashMaker down below this profile]
He was saying he's seen challenges, he's expecting to see more, however he's coming into a new chapter, one of bigger things and bigger challenges. Alluding to his fears of a premature career collapse, saboteurs, however in a way also still recognizing his well wishers and supporters.
"A special thanks to my day ones, and in relation to all my visuals, i thank Brooklyn Films. TK Swiz Makan for his friendship and most recently, linking us up with each other Chikovhi. Great people are there, and only great people I'll focus on, to achieve great things." SmashMaker appreciated.
*Conclusion*
______________
In my Writing journey i have yet to make the mark i believe i can make. It is only at moments of conversations or interactions with Artists from various fraternities of the arts, that i rediscover, that in this world there are only two stories. Hard work and Giving in. The rest is just semantics that everyone else goes through, in a way tailored to their own version of the same story.
To close, i take SmashMaker's message to us all artists on our journey to establishment; "Stay loyal to your way of doing your art, because that is exactly what someone out there is waiting for." SmashMaker [Feb.Sun.9th.2025]...
