*Noise at Tourism Town Hall*
A town hall meeting organized by the Ministry of Economy with tourism industry leaders turned noisy after several entrepreneurs took on the ministry’s Tourism Administration for “serving the Ivanishvili regime” and remaining quiet in the face of gross human rights violations, which has in turn severely impacted tourism in Georgia.
Several speakers spoke of the free fall in tourism statistics with thousands of hotel cancellations threatening small hotels and family-owned guesthouses. Some accused the Administration of hiding real tourism stats and only publishing the list of countries that saw a growth in tourists to Georgia, such as Turkey or Russia.
