*Regime Finalizes Central Bank Takeover* The Ivanishvili regime has finalized its takeover of the National Bank of Georgia after making four new appointments to its Board of Governors, following months of blocking by President Zourabichvili. The regime’s legislature has confirmed unanimously the appointees of the unrecognized president Mikheil Kavelashvili. These include Vakhtang Burkiashvili, a large donor to Ivanishvili’s political party, former Agriculture Minister Otar Shamugia, former Ivanishvili-owned Cartu Bank executive Levan Dzneladze, and bank regulator Nino Jeladze. It is believed one of the first steps of the NBG will be to launch a central bank cryptocurrency, aimed at controlling individual expenses.
