1. The ANSO-CAS-TWAS/UNESCO PhD Scholarship is open
The Alliance of International Science Organizations (ANSO), The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS/UNESCO) are offering sponsorships for up to 40 students and scholars from developing countries to study in China for doctoral degrees for up to 4 years. 2. Nominations are open for the Royal Society’s annual medals and awards programme.
Nominations are open for the Royal Society’s annual medals and awards programme. Each year, the Royal Society awards two prizes that recognise exceptional scientists based in Africa. The Royal Society Africa Prize recognises senior stage scientists who are making outstanding contributions to capacity building in Africa. The Royal Society Rising Star Africa Prize recognizes early-career research scientists who are making innovative contributions to the physical, mathematical and engineering sciences. For both these prizes, the winner will be invited to the Royal Society in London to receive a commemorative medal and deliver a prize lecture on their research. 3. Nominations open for the TWAS-Samira Omar Innovation for Sustainability Award
TWAS is inviting nominations for the 2025 TWAS-Samira Omar Innovation for Sustainability Award. The award honours scientists from Least Developed Countries for their impactful results on the environment and biodiversity, in line with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals released by the UN as part of the 2030 Agenda. It recognizes the significant impact on the environment and biodiversity of scientists from least developed countries, with a monetary award of $4,000. 5. UNESCO-Equatorial Guinea Fellowship Programme for Young Women Scientists in Africa
The call for nominations for the first edition of the UNESCO-Equatorial Guinea Fellowship Programme for Young Women Scientists in Africa is now open. The Young African Women Scientists Programme, established in 2024 by UNESCO's Executive Board and funded by the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, aims to promote and support two exceptional young African women in the life sciences. The program seeks to encourage their active participation in their countries' scientific and technological development. Each year, two young African women will be awarded a grant of $25,000, with a total of $50,000, to advance their research and foster a promising scientific career. The Volunteer Lecturer Program of the IMU Commission for Developing Countries was established in 2008. It is designed to foster research and international cooperation between mathematicians in developing countries and the international mathematical community by providing financial assistance to universities in developing countries to host a volunteer lecturer for an intensive course.
