Team Rwanda rider Moise Mugisha was all smiles when he saw his family cheering on him from while heading to Rubavu from Musanze in Stage 3.
The 28-year-old stopped in Busogo to embrace his family which was among hundreds who were on the street to support him. Photos of him kissing his twin babies also marked an emotional moment which led the headlines of the race.
Mugisha told Times Sport that he had to stop a bit mid-race and share such a light moment with a family whose support doubled his motivation during the cycling race.
“When the family supports what you are doing, especially in cycling, you can't bypass them without greeting them. And that can only be done by a professional who knows what it is and what he is doing,” he said.
Mugisha expressed that seeing his family during the race provided an additional boost of energy and motivation as his family is at the forefront of everything he does.
