Allah described His Messenger Nuh in surah al-Isra' [17] by saying [إِنَّهُ كَانَ عَبْدًا شَكُورً‌ا] _He was a grateful servant_ [3] al-Haafidh ibn Kathir wrote in his tafsir that: [وقد ورد في الحديث وفي الأثر عن السلف: أن نوحًا، عليه السلام، كان يحمد الله تعالى على طعامه وشرابه ولباسه وشأنه كله؛ فلهذا سمي عبدًا شكورًا. ... وقال مالك ، عن زيد بن أسلم : كان يحمد الله على كل حال . ] In a hadith and statements of the Salaf, it is relayed that Nuh used to praise Allah for his food, his drink, his clothing, and everything.
