⚠️Vox Weather & TROPICAL CYCLONE🌀 UPDATE | 27 February 2025 🌀 GARANCE 🌀 Garance has intensified into an intense tropical cyclone, moving southward. It remains a small system, with severe impacts concentrated within 150 km of its center. Garance is expected to reach Réunion Island on Friday morning, though weakening may begin as it nears. A direct cyclonic threat is likely, with Garance passing within 50 km or even directly over the island. Heavy rain, damaging winds over 150 km/h, and dangerous seas are expected across all or part of Réunion. Mauritius, while less affected, may still face strong winds, heavy rain, and rough seas Thursday night into Friday morning. Residents should follow updates from local meteorological services. 🌀 HONDE 🌀 Honde, a large system, remains a strong tropical storm about 200 km southwest of Madagascar in the southern Mozambique Channel. It is moving east-southeast and is expected to reach tropical cyclone status today. By the end of the week, it will approach southwestern Madagascar (Toliara province) at full strength before slowly drifting southward. Heavy rain and dangerous seas begin today, with strong to destructive winds likely between Friday and Sunday. The extreme southern regions of Madagascar, particularly south of Toliara, are at risk of exceptional rainfall, with totals exceeding 500 mm expected over the coming days. ⚠️ While South Africa is not at risk, both storms pose serious threats to Madagascar, Réunion, and Mauritius. ⛈️ Severe Thunderstorm Warnings – South Africa ⚠️ Thursday (Yellow Level 2): Severe thunderstorms with heavy rain, damaging winds, hail, and flooding expected in parts of North West, Northern Cape, Free State, Mpumalanga, KwaZulu-Natal, Gauteng, Eastern Cape, and Limpopo. ⚠️ Friday (Yellow Level 2): Storms continue in North West, Northern Cape, Free State, Gauteng, Limpopo, and Mpumalanga. #voxweathergirls #honde #garance #madagascar #reunion #mauritius #tropicalcyclone #weatherupdate
