What You’ll Do (The Big Picture): Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement strategies to provide accessible and efficient library services across MSU’s multi-campus system. Client Services Champion: Oversee all aspects of client services, ensuring high customer satisfaction and smooth circulation workflows. Strategic Planner: Contribute to the library’s strategic planning, identifying areas for improvement and developing innovative initiatives. Policy & Procedure Guru: Assist in developing and implementing library policies, standard operating procedures, and quality manuals. Risk Manager: Assist in managing risks related to library spaces and collections. Space Optimizer: Ensure library spaces are modern, welcoming, accessible, and conducive to learning and research. Outreach & Engagement Leader: Coordinate library orientation, outreach, and community engagement programs. Instructional Innovator: Lead the development and delivery of library instruction programs, including information literacy sessions. Curriculum Collaborator: Partner with academic staff to integrate library resources and services into course curricula. Technology Advocate: Promote innovative technologies to enhance the library’s support for teaching and learning. Reference Services Manager: Oversee and improve reference services, ensuring timely and accurate information access. Team Leader & Mentor: Supervise and mentor a team of Faculty and Reference Librarians. What You’ll Need (Your Library Leadership Skills): Master’s degree in Library and Information Science. Bachelor of Science Degree in Library & Information Science. Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in academic libraries, including supervisory or leadership roles (one year at the Sub-Librarian level). Excellent verbal and written communication skills (including report writing). Strong interpersonal skills. Computer literacy and sound research skills. Ability to work independently.
