Inna Lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'oon It is with heavy hearts that the Voice of the Cape shares the news of the passing of media practitioner, former VOC Board of Trust member, and beloved VOC presenter Awaatief Daniels. Aunty Awaatief was a trailblazer, becoming the first lady to serve as vice-chairperson of the Muslim Broadcasting Corporation (MBC). During a tribute on VOC Breakfast this morning, VOC Secretary of the Board of Trust, Gasant Fridie said that her contributions to the transformation and governance of VOC will forever be remembered. "It’s a deeply sad day for all of us. On behalf of the MBC, we extend our sincere condolences. We ask Allah to forgive her shortcomings, grant her a high place in Jannah, and bring comfort to her family—her husband Fuad and daughter Tasneem.
