Some of the companions of the prophet ﷺ used to pray sunnah prayers between Maghrib and Isha. Anas ibn Malik رضي الله عنه reported:
In regards to the verse, “They arise from their beds, calling upon their Lord in fear and in hope, spending from what We have provided them,”
(Quran 32:16)
Anas ibn Malik رضي الله عنه said,
“They are those who are awake to pray between sunset and evening prayer.”
[Sunan Abī Dāwūd 1321, Sahih]
Al-Shawkaani رحمه الله said,
“The verses and Hadith quoted concerning this matter indicate that it is prescribed to pray a great deal between Maghrib and ‘Isha’.”
[Nayl al-Awtaar (3/68)]
Hudhayfah رضي الله عنه said,
“I came to the Prophet ﷺ and prayed Maghrib with him. When he had finished the prayer, he stood and prayed, and he kept praying until he prayed ‘Isha’.
[Ahmad 22926 Sahih by al-Albaani in Irwa’ al-Ghaleel 470]
Between Maghrib and Isha you rarely see people doing any ibaadah except for few reciting the Quran in the masjid, seeking ilm and praying sunnah.
