📌 Definition:
A Freemartin is a sterile female calf born as a twin alongside a male calf. This occurs due to hormonal transfer between the male and female fetuses in the womb.
🔍 How Does It Happen?
✅ Twins in Cows – A bull calf 🐂 and a heifer calf 🐄 share a placenta.
✅ Hormone Transfer – The male's Anti-Müllerian Hormone (AMH) & Testosterone affect the female.
✅ Reproductive Impact – The heifer’s reproductive system is underdeveloped, leading to sterility.
🚫 Freemartins Cannot Reproduce!
