The Al-Fuqaha' as-Sab'ah (الفقهاء السبعة) refers to the "Seven Jurists" of Madinah, who were renowned scholars of Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh) from the generation of the Tabi'un (the successors of the Prophet Muhammad's companions).
These seven jurists were prominent for their deep knowledge of fiqh and their role in shaping Islamic legal thought, particularly in the city of Madinah during the early Islamic period.
The seven jurists are:
1. Sa'eed ibn al-Musayyib
2. 'Urwah ibn az-Zubayr
3. Qaasim ibn Muhammad ibn Abi Bakr as-Siddeeq
4. Khaarijah ibn Zayd ibn Thaabit
5. 'Ubaydullah ibn 'Abdullah ibn 'Utbah ibn Mas'ood
6. Sulaymaan ibn Yasar
7. Abu Bakr ibn 'Abdur-Rahman ibn al-Haarith ibn Hishaam
These scholars were highly regarded for their profound understanding of Islamic jurisprudence.
May Allah have mercy on them all. Aameen.
