You can now study in the UK at the University of Glasgow free of charge through its African Excellence Award aimed at supporting students from 54 African countries to pursue a postgraduate program.
If you fall in this cartegory, here is what you need to do to win the scholarship:
1. 𝐈𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐲 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞: The scholarship funds any of the 276 programs at the masters level (Research and Taught), Post graduate diploma and Certificate i.e., MSc. PgDip, PgCert, LLM, MAcc, MRes, MA, MEd, MLitt and MPhil. Find the one that suits your needs
2. 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐧 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦: If you meet the entry criteria for your chosen program, make an application. This is mostly cost free and you may be required to submit documents such as your CV, SOP and/Motivation Letter.
3. 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: This is an easier process. There are three essays all adding up to approx 450 words. This is not a lot and you may want to be clear and concise. Here is what you will need to answer:
- Your contribution to your community
- Why you are the best candidate
- How you course aligns with your career goals
4. 𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐌𝐒𝐜 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬: You do not need your MSc offer at the scholarship application stage (Now). However, to be invited for the interview, you will need your MSc offer by 10𝐭𝐡 𝐌𝐚𝐲 2025. Make sure you meet admission conditions by this date.
5. 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰: The interview process follows after 10th May 2025. This will need you to speak more about yourself and what went into your 450 word application essay. [Check link below for detailed guidance]
6. 𝐆𝐞𝐭 𝐟𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐚: You have to fund your Visa and Travel expenses. If your interview goes well, get ready for the visa application. [Again, all info about associated expenses in the link below]
7. 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐬𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫: Congratulations, this is the final step.
To be able to reach this far, submit your application by: 31st March 2025
Good Luck!
