A year ago today, marathon world record holder Kelvin Kiptum tragically lost his life in a road accident, along with his Rwandan coach, Gervais Hakizimana. The accident occurred just weeks before the Rotterdam Marathon, where Kiptum was poised to become the first person to run a marathon in under two hours. There is no doubt that Kiptum had the potential to achieve a sub-two-hour marathon. Unfortunately, we were never able to witness his full capabilities. May they both rest in eternal peace.
