Calling someone by their first name irrespective of their age is a western culture. I have worked with Japanese companies like Honda & Suzuki. They have a cultural practice of addressing people by their name followed by “San”. I have been in Gujarat and from what I have inherited from my surroundings, I prefer adding “Bhai” / “Ben” if I am talking in Gujarati or “Ji” if I am talking in Hindi. When one will observe closely, one will realise that the true influence from WEST / Japan (EAST) is actually following your own culture wherever you go.
