🇫🇷 *Today, Justice Info looks at France.* In short: Eighty years after the liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp, we still do not know how many so-called “Nomads” were placed under house arrest, interned on French territory or murdered. However, lists drawn up by French authorities even before the German occupation are freely available for consultation and are gradually starting to draw attention. A decree prohibited their movement and marked the start of a daily count in which everything was observed and recorded in detail. From the number of people interned to the number of spoons they were using in the camps. The act of counting had developed into a veritable weapon of persecution against “Nomads”. Then begins the battle of statistics. Between 3,000 and 30,000 people would have been interned in camps, depending on the sources.
