PICS: The KwaZulu-Natal Economic Regulatory Authority (KZNERA) and the SAPS had a joint operation that led to removal of illegal gambling machines that were operating without regulation across the province. The operations started on 21 February 2025 and it led to the confiscation of 27 illegal gambling machines in Ladysmith, Dannhauser, Bhamshela, and Ndwedwe. A total of R24,874 in cash was also seized during the operation. These unlicensed machines were found in tuckshops, liquor outlets, and other informal businesses, making them easily accessible to members of the public, including minors.
