*ZIMBABWE GOT TALENT : WITH SPORTS BOOTH*
*A run down of Zimbabwean Sports people /athletes who are doing wonders in various sports*
*ATHLETICS*
(1) Makanakaishe Charamba, a finalist in the Paris Olympic Games, easily won the men's indoor 200-meter final at the Purple and Orange Invitational at Clemson University on Saturday, setting a new personal record. The 23-year-old sprinter from Zimbabwe, who competes for Auburn University, finished the race in 20.55 seconds, his first competitive race since the 200-meter final in Paris.
(2) At the Corky Classic indoor meet late last month, Zimbabwean sprinters Clinton Muunga, Denzel Simusialela, and Tapiwa Makarawu created history by taking first, second, and third place in the 60-meter sprint! Tapiwa Makarawu dominated the 200-meter track, finishing in a blazing 20.48 seconds to receive three awards: the UK All-Time No. 3 ranking, the Global No. 2 rating in 2025, and the NCAA No. 1 ranking.
*FOOTBALL*
(3) Former Dynamos, Nyasa Big Bullets and Warriors coach Kalisto Pasuwa was confirmed as the substantive head coach of the Malawi national team.
Pasuwa was recommended by the Football Association of Malawi’s Technical Sub-Committee after his successful stint with Malawian giants Nyasa Big Bullets whom he won five consecutive league titles with.
Before his latest appointment, Pasuwa led Malawi to a draw against Burundi and a three-nil win over Burkina Faso which was their first and only win in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
(4) Trey Nyoni made his Champions League debut for his team Liverpool in a 3-2 defeat to PSV making him Liverpool’s youngest ever player to play in a European competition. The left winger is regarded as one of the most exciting prospects in England and is born to Zimbabwean parents.
(5) Warriors forward, Tawanda Chirewa was on target with a brace after returning to Wolves from Derby where he was loaned earlier this month in the 3-1 win against Manchester City U21.Chirewa is one of the Warriors talented young players who is playing abroad.
(6) Zimbabwean international Bill Antonio made his long-awaited return after More than 10 months out with an ACL injury.
Antonio came on as a second-half substitute for KV Mechelen in a 2-1 loss against Genk.
The youthful player is one of the young lads who can be included in the warriors set up in the future.
*MIXED MARTIAL ARTS*
Zimbabwean Mixed Martial Arts fighter Nicholas Hwende won the Brave CF 91 Bantamweight World title in December 2024 after beating South African Nkosi Ndebele on points decision after five rounds in Bahrain early Saturday.
This was Hwende's second world title after winning the EFC world bantamweight title in 2022 after beating Brazilian Gian Souza.
